Practicing The Gift You’ve Been Given…

God has given us all a gift. Whether it’s a gift of forgiveness or being loyal or whether it’s singing or photography. God made us with our own unique gift, though you might not know what you gift is straight away. But once you know what it is make sure you practice your gift.  When I was 14, I was prophesied over. This was my prophecy;

My music will be used to bless people and will be heard by many people. I would have my own songs . But it also came with a warning about not letting pride become too strong.

Straight away my thought was WOW, I’m going to be a singer!! It wasn’t until I was talking to someone afterwards that I realised, it may not be singing I would be recognised by. It may be making music instead. But I was excited to say the least. I thought I knew my future from that prophecy. Where I went wrong was I tried to force it instead of letting God opening up windows for me. And when those windows I tried to open myself wouldn’t open, I would give up and stop practising my gift.

Here’s a small tip for when you find your gift…don’t let ANYONE stop you from doing it! It is your gift for a reason. Use it to the best of your abilities! You might never know, you could change someone’s life with your gift.

Here’s some verses from the bible about your gift from God.

1 Peter 4:10 – As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, 2as good stewards of God’s varied grace:

Romans 12:6 – We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith

Exciting News!

Hi Guys,

I know, AGAIN, I haven’t written in a while. I’ve just been busy focusing on God and trying to survive life with anxiety (the battle has been won against the anxiety all thanks to the King of Kings)

But I thought I would share the past 30 days with you all has my life has become a whole lot more exciting. On 1st September, at Disneyland Paris, my boyfriend proposed to me right outside of the castle. And of course I SAID YES!

Literally from that point on, wedding planning has taken over my life! I have been finding ideas on how I want the wedding to look like, what type of dress I want, the type of suits we want for the groom and ushers and a lot more stuff!

Even though planning a wedding is great fun, budgeting everything is very hard and stressful! Though it is just the beginning of our wedding adventure, we still have a lot more to learn!

At this moment in life, I am very happy! God has found me an amazing man, who I can now call my Fiancé, who is just as faithful and loving towards God as I am!!

Staged for photos!

Bottling it leads to spillages?

Have you ever bottled up your feelings? Have you ever felt like you are carrying a heavy load on your back?  How does it make you feel? Like you’re trapped in a box and you can’t get out no matter how hard you try?

I know what it feels like to have feelings locked up inside and not able to make its way out. For me, it was the fear of being rejected by the person I would express my feelings too. But I also know how it feels when you burst into an emotional state because you have bottled up those feelings, which can generally make everything worse making yourself feel worse. This is where the title of this post comes from. If you bottle up your feelings, eventually it will start overflowing causing it to spill.

So how can you prevent your bottle from spilling? Simple, empty it. Find someone to talk to about your feelings. Talk to your parents, youth leader, teacher, pastor, friend. Talk to God. You might not be able to hear him but he is definitely listening to what you say.

Here’s a bible verse that is the verse of the day on my phone and I thought it fitted in well with this message.

“So then let’s also run the race that is laid out in front of us, since we have such a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us. Let’s throw off any extra baggage, get rid of the sin that trips us up, and fix our eyes on Jesus, faiths pioneer and perfected. He endured the cross, ignoring the shame, for the sake of the joy that was laid out in front of him, and sat down at the right side of God’s throne.” Hebrews 12v1-2

Let Me Explain…

Hello All!

I can’t believe I haven’t posted anything since Octiber last year. I have been struggling a lot with many different things in my life and I have been extremely down about life.

The reason I haven’t been posting blogs is because I have struggled with my walk with Christ and I haven’t been a ‘true’ Christian. I was talking the talk but i wasn’t walking the walk. And without the walk, there was really no point in writing another blog.

It’s really strange how when I was little I was a keen church goer. I went every Sunday unless I was ill. But now I’m older and make my own choices, I feel like I’m finally seeing the ‘adult’ side of church. What I mean by that is the political side of it and not just the happy, singing songs side of it. To me, there were some churches I found were way to judgemental to people they didn’t really know and that really put me off going to church. A church shouldn’t be a place of judgement. Only the Lord can judge and he is the most loving thing out there!

I still have that thought but I do go to church now with my partner in crime and we feel we have settled nicely at that church. My walk isn’t 100% back to normal but I know I am getting there.

I thought it would be nice just to say why I haven’t posted in a long time and honestly, asking for your support and prays as I try to get back where I was before!

Halloween…Should Christians get involved?

Many Christians asked this question, should we get involved with Halloween?

First, let’s look at the history of it.

‘Halloween is a holiday celebrated on the night of October 31. The word Halloween is a shortening of All Hallows’ Evening also known as Hallowe’en or All Hallows’ Eve…..The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture. Samhain was a time used by the ancient pagans to take stock of supplies and prepare for winter. The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead overlapped and the deceased would come back to life and cause havoc such as sickness or damaged crops.’ http://www.halloweenhistory.org/

The first thing to strike a chord with me was to call Halloween a holiday. In my eyes, and many others eyes, Halloween isn’t and can NEVER be a holiday or a celebration. Celebrations are meant to be for happy occasions, not dark and evil occasions.

My answer to the question above is a simple no. As Christians we should have nothing to do with anything Halloween. It is a day that has been created to celebrate the devil and his evil ways. Even though in the past years, Halloween has become so sugar coated that it has been made ‘suitable’ for little children to enjoy and people have forgotten the reason why Halloween exists. I see Christian people let their children join in with Halloween activities by either letting them go trick or treating, or dressing them up in Halloween costumes. Yes it maybe fun for the children but they don’t know what Halloween is! To them it’s a time to go to strangers house in a costume and ask for sweets! The complete opposite of stranger danger.

It says in 1 Corinthians 10 v21 ‘You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.’. This says you cannot claim to be a Christian when you are participating in evil activities. This includes Halloween.

But this is just MY opinion. Obviously everyone has their own views of the matter. But it clearly says in the bible, we can’t be truly faithful if we are celebrating the devil, even if it is only for a day…

Does Jefferson Bethke Speak The Truth?

Have you seen Jefferson Bethke’s video on Youtube called ‘Why I Hate Religion But Love Jesus’?

No? Then you should.. Look it up now!
Yes? Good! It’s an inspirational piece of spoken word.

Bethke has written a book called ‘Jesus > Religion’ which is based on his spoken word piece. I thought it was a great read. I listened to be via Audible and I felt so uplifted and inspired after finishing the book. There was one point in the book that stuck out to me and I had never actually thought of before but it’s so true and that is that Christian worship songs and artists (For example, Hillsong, Jesus Culture and Worship Central) aren’t just songs anymore. The world has labelled them as Christian songs and Christian artists and now that is what they strive for. They are Christian Artists, not just artists.

Here is what Bethke said:

“The problem with the American-Christian subculture is that our art and glorification of Jesus begin to weaken because we lose all sense of comparison. For example, a lot of Christian musicians no longer shoot to be the best musicians; they shoot to be the best Christian musicians. The standards have been lowered. But the truth is, art can speak for itself. It is a reflection of the creation mandate, not the salvation mandate. Rather than making Christian music, we should make music with a Christian worldview just as atheists, Muslims, and others do when they make music. There is nothing about music that is Christian; it’s the worldview in the music that can be.” Jesus > Religion Written by Jefferson Bethke. Page 173.

When I read that, I went straight into my iTunes and looked at my ‘Christian’ playlist. All the songs I have on there that is written by a Christian person is labelled as Christian or Religious.

Now I’m not against Christian songs and Christian artists. In fact, in total I have 586 songs that a Christian has wrote in my iTunes playlist. But just imagine if we took that label away from music. All songs would be the same. Rap songs would be the same as Gospel and Rock would be the same as Classical. It’s not the genre that makes the song what it is, it’s the creation and the view of the music.

Bethke explains a good example of this in his book. Michael Jackson’s song ‘Man In The Mirror’ tells us to make a difference in this world, you need to look in the mirror and sort yourself out first before the world. It has a good message. But people see it as a Non-Christian song so God can’t get glory from it. But Bethke sees it differently and I can see why he does. The song reminded him that he has to concentrate more on his sins more than other peoples’ sins.

There are so many songs that aren’t sung or written by Christians but has a powerful, Godly meaning to them such as Footprint In The Sand by Leona Lewis and Hall of Fame by The Script. Just because it’s not labelled Christian, doesn’t mean God can’t find the glory in it.

TheChristianCornerBlog’s 1st Birthday!!

Oh my goodness! It was a year ago I decided to created this blog!! It’s crazy to look back a year ago and see how things have changed the past 12 months!

God has done some amazing things in my life and I can only see them looking back. You never usually see the things God has done for you until it has past a few months.

Yes, I’ve had my ups and downs. I’ve struggled but I’ve also had great memories the past year.

God has shown me Love in many forms the past year! I met an amazing guy not long after starting this blog and we have been together for almost a year. God has given me strength when I feel like I can’t do my job at work properly. He has given me hope when I’ve felt down about different things. He’s given me the courage to face different situations in my life. God has also sent an angel down to watch over me when I had my car accident, in November, in a form of a man who saw the whole accident. He has also shown how much he cares for me by sending in a load of doctors and nurses to check up on me when I got rushed into the hospital last week.

This year, I think, has been the biggest struggle I’ve ever had with my faith but looking back now, I can see a God has been there with me the WHOLE time! And for that I am truely greatful I have such an amazing God who cares and loves me for eternity!

The 4 Points

Has anyone heard of LZ7’s song ‘4 Points’?  If you haven’t, then you should.

LZ7 teamed up with an association called The 4 Points, who has made 4 easy steps to help you realise how much God loves you and shows how easy it is to love God back. Here are the 4 points:

  1. I know God loves me
  2. I know I’ve messed up
  3. He died and paid the price
  4. Now I chose life

I think this is a good example to live by. If you know about God but don’t actually know God then follow these steps. Acknowledge God loves you, admit you messed up, remember he died and forgave all your sins, now I chose a life with God free from sin.

It’s not gonna be easy. Once you realise these steps are true, temptation will hit you at a MASSIVE force. Temptation that the devil will use to push you away from God but with God’s strength, you can conquer it and push through the hardest time.

Just remember we may not be able to see God, but we can all feel him in us.
