The 10 Commandments

So during my lunch break on Thursday one of my work colleague’s Rachel, who I also went to college with, ask me if I knew all the 10 Commandments. I shamelessly could only remember 5 of the 10. But it was my friend who thought I should write a blog about it so hey presto! Here it is!

So for people who don’t know what the 10 Commandments are, it is instructions that the Lord gave Moses on Mount Sinia to give to the Israelites and as a Christian we still follow this instructions. These are the 10 Commandments the Lord gave to them;

  1. You must have no other gods before me.
  2. Do not make an idol for yourself – no form whatsoever – of anything in the sky above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth.
  3. Do not use the Lord your God’s name as if it were of no significance; the Lord won’t forgive anyone who uses his name that way.
  4. Remember the Sabbath day and treat it as holy.
  5. Honour your father and your mother so that your life will be long on the fertile land that the Lord your God is giving you.
  6. Do not kill.
  7. Do not commit adultery.
  8. Do not steal.
  9. Do not testify falsely against your neighbour.
  10. Do not desire your neighbour’s house. Do not desire and try to take your neighbour’s wife, male or female servant, ox, donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbour.
    (Exodus 20)

As a non-believer, my guess is, they look at this list and think ‘Blimey that God guy is well strict!’ But in theory no He isn’t strict. He just loves us so much that he wants us to be clean from sin and live a clean and pure life with the Lord.

There isn’t much else to say on this topic because it explains itself. God put these instructions in places so we don’t commit ungodly actions/sins. Simple.

As a Christian, I follow these instructions because I believe that they will bring my closer to the Lord and help me remain faithful.

Belief | Spoken Word | Written and Performed by Thomas Olliver (aka Dust)

If you only believe in the things you see then you believe in nothing. For if you see it then you know it to be true and their for your not believing. See belief is to trust in the things you can’t see but to be sure whole heartedly that the thing in which you believe in is real. You believe in oxygen because you “know” its their. Is that really belief? It seems that in this generation belief is deceased and without belief this world wont see peace. See we need to open our hearts and believe that theirs a truth that no one can see but its bigger than you and bigger than me.
I have faith in an almighty god that created the earth and the heavens. He believes in me so I believe in him. I have witnessed the power of the king. Ive seen him heal ive seen him save  ive seen him set free people who are enslaved from earthly bounds. Belief and faith are two different things. Children believe in Santa Claus. Whereas Christians have faith in a king. A faith that he will come again. A faith that he loves and cares for us with an unimaginable love. I’m not gunna spend time trying to prove that god is real because I’ve learnt that that’s impossible. Scientists trying to prove he’s not real I know that that’s not possible. I once heard this incredible line in a piece of spoken word. “Trying to prove god is like trying to defend a lion, it don’t need your help” This is a powerful thing to say because it’s entirely true. We can’t prove god, Science can’t disprove god. Because he doesn’t want us to. God wants his people to have faith in him without needing proof. He could come down on a cloud right now but then we’d know the truth. If we see he’s real then we know he’s true then we don’t have faith in him. But if you believed and had faith before he came them you have the favor of the king. The ones with faith are the ones who without seeing him are believing. When he comes back everyone on earth will know the king of kings. But only those who believed and had faith will be going back with him. You see Belief may seem to be dying but faith is rising through the nations. We are celebrating Christ through events and congregations of thousands, millions.
Wow their might yet be hope for this world.

Stuck At A Dead End

I haven’t post anything for a few months and no there isn’t a good reason. Simply because I have started to become lazy. Lazy with home life, lazy with work life, lazy with church life and unfotunatly lazy with my faith. I haven’t lost faith, but I’m becoming lazy with it. I don’t pray as often as I did (though it was little to start with), my love for worship leading has slowly burnt out, my love for church has started to disappear.

This is what I call stuck at a dead end. Where you don’t know what you want to do in life. Yes I know I’m young, I’m only 19 and I have my whole life ahead of me? Some parts I already have planned out, but others I have no clue what I wanna do.

I’ve been asking God for a miracle. I’ve been asking that one of the struggles in my life will disappear. He listened. One of the struggles in my life disappeared. I was so shocked, so amazed! God was listening to me.

I thought of this verse amongst my amazement…

I raise my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. God won’t let your foot slip. Your protector won’t fall asleep on the job. No! Israel’s protector never sleeps or rests! The Lord is your protector; the Lord is your shade right beside you. The sun won’t strike you during the day; neither will the moon at night. The Lord will protect you from all evil; God will protect your very life. The Lord will protect you on your journeys— whether going or coming— from now until forever from now. (‭Psalms‬ ‭121‬:‭1-8‬ CEB)

God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.
